White Card Training

This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.

Upon successful completion of the program students will be issued a Nationally Accredited Unit of Competency for CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.

Certificates are emailed to students however a hard copy is available upon request for an additional fee.

In addition to receiving the Statement of Attainment, a wallet-sized White Card will be issued on the day or posted to an address provided by the student participant. The White Card will be issued by the Australian Well Control Centre on behalf of Workcover Queensland.

You must produce, and the Trainer must sight, three matching, original, evidence of identity (EOI) documents before undertaking this course (GCIT).

Students who fail to provide a valid ID on the day unfortunately will not be accepted into the AWCC White Card Program. If you still require the White Card Licence a re-booking fee of $45.00 AUD will be charged.

During your short course with AWCC, you may/will be performing practical activities in a live training environment. For insurance purposes, AWCC requests that all candidates must present to the training centre in full PPE (Personal Protective Clothing). This will include clean, free of mud, steel or composite fibre toe safety boots fitted to the ankle correctly, Long Trousers and long-sleeve work shirts. Work coveralls will be accepted and students should bring these personal items with them to the course. AWCC reserves the right to refuse entry to those students who do not satisfy these industry safety requirements.

The AWCC White Card Program has three (3) components:

1. The Theory Element conducted face-to-face in a classroom environment.
2. The Practical Element practicing and implementing skills learned on the day.
3. The Assessment Function covers both a theory knowledge assessment and practical skills demonstration to display competency.

Throughout the program, students are offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate knowledge and skills learned.

In the unlikely event a student falls short of competency in either the theory, practical or both will be required to re-book into the program again at the full course cost.
